Pain Relief through Expert Hands

Arthritis is a condition that restricts movement—and eventually causes pain-in the affected parts of your body. Since the disease can be incapacitating, it is essential to consult with an Arthritis Specialist as soon as you experience any stiffness, swelling or pain in your joints.

At De Los Santos Med’s Arthritis Center, we provide proper diagnosis, prompt treatment and ultimately, sought-after relief from this debilitating condition. It is staffed by experienced physicians – rheumatologists and orthopaedic surgeons – who specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of the disease.

DIAGNOSIS

The following tests can be performed at the Center to ensure the accuracy of the diagnosis:

Musculoskeletal Ultrasound
This medical imaging technique is a cost-effective way of evaluating a patient’s ligaments, tendons, muscles, and bones. In competent hands, a musculoskeletal ultrasound can be as effective as (but much less expensive than) an MRI. Here at the Arthritis Center, our rheumatologists are expertly trained to perform this safe and non-invasive procedure.

Polarizing Microscopy
Gout is a form of arthritis that causes sudden and severe pain in the affected joints. By utilizing our polarizing microscope to analyze fluid from your painful joint, we are able to accurately identify the crystals that produce gout and other forms of crystal-induced arthritis.

TREATMENT

Infusion
The Center is home to the latest treatments for diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus or SLE, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis and osteoporosis (a disease that weakens your bones).

We offer biologic intravenous therapies that make use of infliximab, rituximab, and tocilizumab in order to treat rheumatic diseases.

Other therapies available for infusions include:
• Pulse methylprednisolone therapies
• Intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG)
• Cyclophosphamide
• Zoledronic acid

Our dedicated team of skilled rheumatologists and nurses are always present to assist you during all your infusion sessions. And to make your stay as comfortable as possible, we also equipped our infusion station with relaxation chairs and an HD TV for your viewing pleasure.

Injection
Since certain arthritic conditions require injection/s to a particular joint or part of the body, we offer treatments like steroid injection and viscosupplementation (injection of hyaluronic acid). For further precision, we also perform ultrasound-guided injections for those hard-to-target structures.

Surgery
In line with the hospital’s commitment to deliver quality healthcare, we developed packages on procedures like total hip and total knee replacements that are comprehensive yet still within your reach. These packages already include hospitalization, operating room expenses, professional fees and cost of the artificial joint.

The Arthritis Center is located at the 3rd Floor of the Medical Arts Building.
